Our Story

Our story begins with Nicky’s passion for farming. Having previously dairy farmed in the local area, Nicky established her own livestock business and serves as a rebate agent for Elders. Eventually, we decided to utilize our Boisdale farm to establish a beef herd. After a visit to Hanging Rock and subsequently their Speckle Park Breed our interest in the breed began. After a lot of research, we were convinced and ultimately committed to establishing our own herd.

Our deep concern for the environment and sustainable practices, coupled with our experience with drought, motivated us to invest in regenerative farming practices. Recognizing the importance of improving soil structure and protecting natural resources, we shifted our focus towards less intensive and more environmentally-friendly farming methods. We are excited about this new journey and eager to see where it leads us.

Recently, we refurbished a 100-year-old milk factory, transforming it into Maffco Brewery and Distillery. Confident in our farming approach and the quality of our cattle, we are establishing a true farm-to-fork experience at Maffco. Here, you can trace the entire journey of our meat, from the farm to your plate. Both quality and environmental responsibility are at the heart of our operation.
